This brown ale was conditioned over one year in a Maker's Mark bourbon cask and served on the handpull at the Ram in Indianapolis. Medium mahogany hue with zero head. Looks a bit flat, but appropriate due to the barrel conditioning. Nose is quite impressive with huge notes of Maker's Mark, oak, vanilla and sweet malts. Those flavors all come through on the palate, while the bourbon, oak and vanilla are most prevalent with an alcoholic finish. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin. This beer only gets better as it warms up. It was served way too cold to enjoy immediately. Everpresent notes of bourbon whisky keep this from being overly drinkable, but it really is an interesting creation of which the Indy Ram brewer should be proud.
