It's finally been done! Tom Charters, in collaboration with the "Two Jakes", Jake Schisel and Jake Talbot of The Ram, has finally brewed up a huge batch of this extremely popular beer. And it will be headed to GABF this year in the Pro-Am competition! An insane amount of hops (100+IBU’S) go into balancing out this 12% Imperial IPA. along with some aging time resting on Casa Noble Reposado Tequila soaked oak chips. This is your opportunity to come out and enjoy one of the most unique and flavorful beers you can get your hands on.

This one’s a gem! Copper colored pour with thick fluffy head, nice citrus hop aroma. Taste comes in with more grapefruit and no evidence of the 12% ABV. Goes down easy and damn tasty.

Bottle #87 shared by daknole. Thanks man! A tequila barrel-aged IPA. I was skeptical to say the least. Wow, was I surprised. Dank hop and citrus aroma with additional notes of agave and a gentle booziness from the tequila. Barrel characteristics are integrated beautifully into the base beer. So much flavor and so drinkable. The IPA component is not lost at all, as I feared. Rather, the tequila adds another notch to an already delicious brew. Impressive.

22 oz bottle from the release (bottle #96) .. Paid about $13... Had this on tap a few times and from bottle a couple times, but wanted to save the review and give this one my full attention.

Poured into my 2014 funkfest goblet.. 2 finger off white head looks like meringue.. fantastic retention and lacing. The brew is slightly hazed orange.

Nose is an amazing mix of great tequila, fruity hops and agave.. really surprising how much of the Reposado comes through.. hops show as a juicy melon and tropical fruit component.

"Big Boy Beer" for sure... bitterness is surprisingly big but never biting and not out of balance, the agave essence rounds out and smoothes things on to the fruity hops.. a bit floral and somehow some light toastiness on the finish.. A 30 second finish is a thinker.

Medium/light bodied with an ever present small bubble carbonation.. forms a great head pour after pour.

Very drinkable despite the bigger ABV. There is sooooo much going on with this brew... I have enjoyed my fair share of Casa Nobles tequila and I am so very impressed how much it comes through without ever feeling like a boilermaker.

Props.
