Draft at Boise brewery. Dark, ruddy brown with small, tight head. Malts featured in the aroma, hops come into play at first taste. Body seems light, but nice lingering bitter finish.

From the 22 oz bottle purchased at the Ram in Boise for the princely sum of $3. Dark, near black brew with a thick, puffy, long-lasting foam in the tumbler. Luxuriously sudsy in the mouth. Sweet malt and herbal hops. Moderate bitterness.
Then there's the rather grapefruity taste. I would believe it if they called it a grapefruit IPA. Otherwise it's exactly like an American Black Ale except Ram calls it a lager. Nothing like a Schwartzbier. Fruity with a little charred grain, an odd combination, but quite drinkable. This is an interesting puzzle of a beer that combines a bunch of flavors.

Sampled from a bomber, split with the Ram brewers over at Bier:Thirty; served in a chalice.
Beautiful clear dark brown body, with off-white head that settles into an attractive cap. Aromas of fruity, citrusy and piney hops combined with a sweet malty backbone...hints of caramel, bready malts underlying...fruity lager yeast esters. Taste follows with some Brown Ale ale characteristics, hints of caramel and cocoa along with some resiny and fruity hops...light espresso-like bitterness on the finish. Light body, smooth and a little creamy.
A pleasant lager, nicely hopped. Would recommend and try again.
