This beer was the 2006 Winter Beer Fest WABL Beer. I enjoyed this one in my 5oz sampler and wow. Ill start with the description given by WABL for the Fest.
2005 Dawgsled winter ale that has been aged in a Jack Daniels Whiskey barrel. Starting with a strong malt based beer ensures that the flavors imparted by the barrel layer well with the beer. A wonderful marriage of malt, caramel, vanilla and wood flavors.
A: This poured a dark brown liquid with no head.
S: The nose was noticeable with a moderate malt essence.
T: At first taste, well the very strong ETOH knocked me over. There was the strong bourbon taste that followed with its lingering roasted malts but not as distinguishable as the younger non-bourbon aged one. The bourbon wasnt particular to my taste but to each his own.
M: Moderate mouthfeel that is not for the faint at heart. There is the overpowering of bourbon in this one.
D: Like always if you see it out there, you must hold your glass to it and try it. This was limited release.
Elbows Up, (as I stagger)
