Shorty at Boise brewpub. Hazy orange golden, patchy head. Weak citrus peel aroma, grapefruit. Taste features more grapefruit peel, bitter with little sweetness. Seems thin too.

on tap over at their meridian location, although im pretty sure all the beer here comes from the boise one, they dont actually brew at that one. the beer is uniformly hazy, between yellow and orange, and it does hold over an inch of white head, good looking as the hazy ones go. aroma and flavor show a lot of stone fruit, peach to me, nice and ripe and a little sweet with some lingering pale malt sugar, but like i got a little in their 71 pale, i get some estery yeast element here that really doesnt belong. in that one it was mild and the hops worked with it. here its approaching phenolic and clashes with the vegetal hops, which seem overdosed, bitter from plant matter not alpha acid, and dont quite have the staying power i wanted from those peachy notes earlier on. some bitter citrus as well, a frothy almost foamy feel which i like, good carbonation, but a lingering vegetable greenness that is over the top here, making it a tough beer to drink a lot of, at least for my tastes. not a bad beer, but assertive in weird ways and with strange proportions and a weight and imperfect ferment. overall just okay, even though its fresh as can be and plenty distinct in a crowded style, the execution needs to be dialed in...
