From notes, this is the late 2011 batch. On-tap @ The Ram, Meridian ID. Served in a 25oz Mug.
A: Very very dark brown and nearly opaque...light off-white head is creamy and leaves some lacing behind.
S: Lots of chocolate mixed with some herbal, piney & dank earthy hops. Pretty balanced nose.
T: Slightly more hop forward on the palette...light astringency, bitter herbal pine and some citrus, as well as creamy, silky milk chocolate from the darker malts. Light roast character.
MF: Pretty creamy light-to-medium body,,,some lingering bitterness in the cheeks...light dryness...low carbonation.
O: A nice Black IPA. Balanced, good malt chocolate malt presence with a nice hop profile to it. I think last years batch was a little better.
