On tap at the brewpub on 7/24/12

My intention was to review only the Big Red IPA but after my wife pointed out that the Raspberry Blonde Ale was made by dumping raspberry syrup into a pint glass and then pouring the regular Blonde Ale into the glass. I decided right there to tick-up the tasting flight by allowing only one line from my steno pad to each beer.

Irresponsibly-deserved Tick #1

A) Light yellow. Minimal head, no lace.

S/T) Clean, grainy, low hops.

M) Crisp feel, medium carbonation.

Served in a shaker pint glass at the Mundelein Craft Beer Fest.

By the end of the day, how shall I feel, Magic Eight Ball beer glass? Anyway, this stuff pours a hazy sunrise amber-brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises light orange zest, light pine needle, slightly-sweet biscuit, light cracked wheat, and a hint of coriander. The taste brings in more of the same, with the pine and citrus peel of the hops leading the gustatory charge. The body straddles the border between hefty light and light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a nice little Gumballhead-like hoppy wheat, but this one just doesn't stand out all that much from the background.
