Having this beer on-tap at the brewery in Berea. Served in a pint glass at the correct temperature, this beer draws a very dark brown, almost black color along with a just slightly off-white head that's about an inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles eventually to medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with some decent lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, oatmeal, hints of chocolate and coffee and some earthy good. An very similar flavor profile, which is spot on for the style, with roasted malts, nice hints of oatmeal, chocolate, and black coffee bitterness along with some earthy good that lend just a bit more bitterness. Has a crisp, slightly prickly, also smooth and just slightly gritty, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a nice roasted and black coffee bitterness aftertaste. A good beer all around here.
