Appearance The full, cascading head impressed the heck out of me. It was firm and absolutely would not go away. I dove through to get to the juicy, dark, brownish-orange nectar.
Smell The sweet vanilla and woody cask notes were pleasant enough, and the hoppy red citrus aroma was just right.
Taste The cask flavors were strong here, soaking the citrusy hops right up. The sharp piney resin was here as well. I thought the flavors were a little too competitive, though, and would have liked to have seen them work together with a little more harmony.
Mouthfeel This was a very mellow, almost light-bodied Red Ale that could use a little cellaring.
Drinkability This unique Bear Creek offering was a treat to sample. I hope they bottle it someday so I can test my cellaring theory.
