I went there last week end... I was given a third try.. Finally, after three times, I know!
Beer on tap! I my god! If I say "beurk" mean something to you? The beer sampler come in a beautiful piece of wood like a small tower in a ancient castle. Last week end they've 9 different beer on tap. But 5 of them taste like cardboard or a very dry wine! Usually when you drink a beer it's supposed to be refreshing, but not at La Tour a Bière.
No beer as a special taste, simple lager or cheap blonde. No hoppy beer also.
I talk with the brewer and he know that the beer on tap are not very interresting, so he offer beer on bottle, I'll try later.
Anyway, it's up to you but if you're a real beer taster and enjoy beer with a good taste (something different) don't got there, make 20 miles to the north and try instead La Voie Maltée. If you're too curious, or just need a place to take a simple beer, you can stop cause the view to the river is good!

On the Chicoutimi side of the city of Saguenay, La tour a bière is a newcomer in the world of Québec's brewpubs, having opened only last summer (2004). They had a stand at the Festival Bières et Saveurs in Chambly, and the Beers they offered there were good enough for me to warrant a visit at the pub.
First off, great location. A big old converted homestead with patios on both floors with a beautiful view of the Saguenay river. The inside has booths and looks pretty old, bookshelves here and there, it has a pretty homey feeling. Tuesday is poker night, they host conferences and tastings regularly and have live music on weekends, all of which are a definate plus.
8 Beers on tap during my visit, plus another, la St-Jean Vianney, a bottle-conditioned Porter that I enjoyed. A Wit, a few blonde ales and lagers, a pretty good stout. Nothing huge, I suppose the brewmaster and the clientele are still learning the ropes together, but still a solid lineup for a region that I consider very conservative Beer-wise.
Service was friendly and quick, but it was early and not too crowded. The nachos we ordered were great, I'm pretty sure the salsa was homemade, with crunchy pieces of fresh veggies.
I wasn't as impressed as I was when I visited La Voie Maltée on the Jonquière side of town, but la Tour a Bière is totally worth a visit if you're in the area.
