after sampling some really good beers at two beers, we headed down to burien for food and laughs. while laughing, we thought, hey what if we got beers too, that's also fun.
this beer was 8.3% and of tangelo hue. had a solid head on its shoulders. caramel smell is dominant, some chocolate, too, with a little piny presence. hiding in the woods. all of it fairly faint. the flavor, however, is anything but faint, powerful caramel, pine and citrus flavors, a bit of chocolate. a brutally efficient beer. like a viking warrior. feels a bit sticky but in that nice caramel way, hops lingering long enough to watch you change.
one was quite enough, but it wouldn't have been a bad idea to grab a growler for later. unfortunately the only one left was acetic acidified.
a lovely life indeed.

Tried 11 Sep 2009 at the brewery.
Bartender called this an imperial red ale.
Slightly hazy orange red color. Almost flat. Aroma is syrupy, quite sweet, some alcohol. Starts syrupy sweet but not cloying. Lots of caramel, moderate alcohol throughout. Some fruitiness, nectarines? Finish is warming.
