The appearance is a rich, clear and glassy red. No head, but lots of carbonation. A full, rich-looking ale.
Sweet honeyish ale aroma. Some slightly musty malt.
The taste is a sweet, slightly smoky malt. Hints of honey and butterscotch. Nice roasted caramel malt base. Minor bitter hop, but most bitterness comes from roasted malt.
Feels thick and creamy. A little bitter malt bite on the way down. This is a real nice amber. Thick but not too much so. Sweet and bitter both. Balanced and quite pleasant.

Poured a deep amber hue with a half finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and little lacing.
The smell featured a relatively sweet caramel malt and a slight floral hop.
The taste was very well balanced and consisted of a grainy sweet malt coupled with a light utilitarian hop.
The mouthfeel was average for the style.
Overall a tasty red ale. Very clean and easily quaffable.

Had on tap at the brewpub, as part of a sampler. The color was right, red-tinted orange and clear, with a nice head of foam. But the aroma and flavor were kind of light on the malt, and heavy on the bitter after-taste. I could taste toasted malt flavors, but nothing as robust or rich as I'd like out of and Irish Red. Not really high on drinkability either, as the bitter after-taste made it difficult to want more.
