A- Pours out not quite pitch black with some brown around the edges where light shines through. A two finger light-tan head builds up and is fairly creamy in texture. The retention is alright and light spotty lacing is left behind. A small cloud and ring are left behind by the head.

S- Pure coffee beans in the aroma. Some roasted malts also in the mix. A basal level of hops is present in the background but nothing sticks out to me but earthy. Not bad for a coffee porter but it could use a bit more strength.

T- Feels light for a coffee porter. I am used to the very rich flavored ones. The coffee is nice and the roasted malt is as well. Some fruity flavors are surprisingly present in the taste as well. Could use some more flavors, maybe some cocoa or just maybe more roast malt and coffee.

MF- Slightly watery, not a good thing for the style. The carbonation is medium and appropriate. A tiny bit of warmth is present on the tongue. A coat of roasty malt and coffee is left on the tongue but isn't too strong.

DB- Great taste but the flavors need a bit more substance. The price was awesome but I wouldn't mind paying more for a better beer. A different twist on a pretty popular style. Not bad at all, I liked their Oatmeal Stout a bit more.

German-style refillable growler filled at the brewpub.

First pint glass pours with a big-bubbled 1/4" beige head over a translucent lightly reddish brown brew. Head was done to an uneven layer of bubbles pretty quick, and lacing is average to good. Aroma is lightly of coffee, coupled with sweet dark maltiness. Taste starts with the sweetness, then shows a wisp of coffee, overall kind of tastes like a mocha. Mouthfeel and drinkability are okay, but nothing earth-shattering. Was a bit disappointed here, but maybe after my experiences with the on-tap brews, I hoped beyond hope that all would shine. I'll revisit to make sure sometime.
