Had on tap at the brewpub. I've seen hazy varieties and clear varieties of Tripels, this one was very clear and reminiscent of Victory Golden Monkey. The beer was extremely clear yellow, classic pilsner appearance. The aroma was great, very spicy and classic. But the flavor was too sweet for me, also the alcohol was pretty apparent. The after-taste was very bitter, making it difficult for me to drink more than one. Actually the flavor is not too different from Golden Monkey or Sapient Trip Ale, 2 other great American Tripels. So I think this was on par with other American interpretations of the style.

German-style refillable growler filled at the brewpub.
First imperial pint pours with a 1/4" eggshell head, and lightly frothy lasting lace. Quite cloudy brew, similar in hue to unused 10W-40 motor oil. Aroma is moderately spiy, with some wheat character (unsure if that is really in there, but that's what I'm finding). Taste starts with the spicy character upfront, gets lightly fruity in the middle, and then finds the alcohol moving in and taking over the close. Mouthfeel and drinkability are both pretty good, but the alcohol is a bit brash. Another enjoyable offering here.
