Good copper garnet kind of color, hits the appearance of a sturdy lager with color. The nuttiness and baked malt smell nice.

Lots of malt in this one. Hopping is understated as expected. Can't figure out the adjunct here, perhaps it is what is causing the mouthfeel to seem like a thin red ale. Carbonation was a little low giving it more of a hefty mouthfeel without much bitterness or hopping.

Picked some of this up back in the day while touring potential schools in the Midwest, ah the Amana colonies, history's most boring exhibit.

Copper pour, kinda hefty looking for a lager. Nutty roasty aroma. So far we're 2 for 2 in terms of this beer not really matching my style expectations, for the better.

Weird heavy malt vibe just kept going here. Not bad, but jeez, not what you'd think in a lager. Hopping not evident, carbonation could be better.

Pours a medium to dark amber color. Very carbonated looking, with an off color head thats thick but does not last long. Looks like you poured a can of pop in a glass with the carbonation.
Has a slight skunk bitter aroma. A medium malty caramel flavor, thats slightly sweet and grainy. Smooth in the mouth, with a light body. I also tried it on tap at the brewery and it seems to me, as all of Millstream beers, they are so much better fresh and on tap.

This beer poured a medium golden color with a light head that settled quickly. It had a light sweet grainy smell. The taste is clean and crisp. It has a sweet malt and grain taste with a little bit of a hops bite and a clean not too bitter finish. The beer has an over all crispness that makes it easy to drink and go down smooth. It has a refreshing taste and is a good strong version of a American lager. Definitely worth a try if you can come across it.

Picked up a sampler pack at John's Grocery in I.C. IA. Poured this one into my recently acquired Leine's Pint from the Leine Lodge.

A: Nice copper, caramel color with good carbonation. Just a skinny layer of head that lasted for less than a minute. No nose dipping for this one.

S: The aroma was strong and very appealing. Had a good malt base with maybe a hint of roasting nutz.

T: Had a average malty flavor with a almost cocoa finish.

M: Didn't tickle my pallet with this one. May have been the carbonation or it was just to light. Thought it would be a fuller feel.

D: Pretty average brew for me. Not blowing the socks off me but still enjoyed and could definitely drink while having my chow.

Have to give it an extra round of applause however since it is coming from Iowa's only distributing brewery! GO HAWKS!!

Honey colored with an off-white foamy head that drops quickly. Aroma is buttery, corny, a little sweet. Flavor is very light malt, some corn and banana, no discernible hops. Not too complex. Nice smooth mouthfeel, moderately carbonated, a little tingly. Smooth and drinkable, but not out of the ordinary.

Light gold with a nice ivory head and light sediment. Nice grainy malt aroma and taste. Light bodied (but leans medium) with a crisp and clean finish.

Overall a very good American Lager and a good session beer. Maybe a bit light for a Muenchner Helles. I tried to look up the style on the Millstream website and it is not listed there anymore so maybe it is no longer brewed. ;-(

Low carbonation and pitiful head but a really good mix of hops and malt giving a very smooth easy to drink beer. The brewery's web site has this as their flagship beer and if that's the case I look forward to their other brews.

Nice rich, light amber color when poured. Malt was evident right from the beginning, but well balanced with hops. A caramel flavor was cleary present for me, but not to the point of being distracting. This beer is extraordinarily smooth, with a clean finish. I very much enjoyed it. Before I knew it, the beer was gone.

Presentation: 12 oz short brown with a twist off cap, no freshness date to be found.

Appearance: Lightly tarnished gold in colour, nice clarity with a well retaining dense and rocky head.

Smell: Very, very clean with a mild honey like sweetness. Touch of floral/herbal hop and grain on the nose also.

Taste: Smooth mouth feel , light to medium in body with a clean palate of both grain and malt. A balancing hop bitterness , subdued spiciness, comes through middle to end to go hand and hand with a mild grainy / veggie (dry grass) finish.

Notes: Tightly packaged ... a "nice and neat" lager with no noticeable flaws what so ever. This is a quality beer ... very refreshing and not too dry which leaves a good amount of residual flavour. More of a Euro-Lager rather than your typical micro or macro lager.
