This beer is lightly hazy, amber tinged, brown color. It is topped by a wispy tan colored head. The aroma is certainly malt focused; there i sa nice mix of raisin notes, toasted and sweet malt notes, some biscuit type aromas and perhaps just a touch of roast character. Overall the aroma is quite nice.
The taste finishes with a nice nutty note that almost picks up a hint of roast character. There is some caramel / toffee sweet malt notes up front and it is joined by a nice, supporting spicy hop note. This beer is nice, soft, easy drinking, yeat flavorful, Norther English in character, but definitely better than Newcastle.
