Gorgeous to look at! Opaque black with a very fluffy white head that laces nicely around the glass. The taste is toasty and complex with bitterness around the edges.

Look: Jet black on the pour which kicks off a nice tan head that builds up and settles slowly to a lid, leaving a nice ring of lacing behind
Aroma: Dark chocolate, earthy notes, roast, brown bread, a little coffee, caramel, and ginseng root
Taste: Opens up with rich, bready malt that brings layers of depth and followed by nice dark chocolate and roast notes. These blend with some nice root-driven earthiness and these go back and forth in the middle as caramel dances around in the background. Closes with ginseng root, earthy notes, and roast
Mouthfeel: Full, bold, medium-high carbonation, clean, and robust on the finish with a hint of dryness
Overall: This is some good stuff. I hadn’t had this beer since I was in college, almost 20 years ago, and didn’t know these folks still brewed or packaged it so had to scoop some up to try again. It’s a well-made and tasty robust Porter and big enough to not be overwhelmed with the ginseng root addition but instead works nicely to incorporate its earthy root flavor and aroma. An interesting twist on a Porter and well worth the purchase if you see it

I bought this from work, it not a growler but a mini keg we call party pigs, 2.5 gal.
A-Pours very black, with little bit of carbonation
S-lite smell of malts and hops, little hints of chocolate and earthly ginseng
T-Malty with a great mouth feel, little bit of carbonation, hints of chocolate and the ginseng gives it a barely noticeable earthy or tangy to it which I liked
O- I have been enjoying this over the holidays and I would get it again. A very solid porter from Oregon Trails

I had to select a serving type but wasn't really the above but was closest to the pig.
For the past three years I have purchased Oregon Trail's Ginseng porter in a pig. I love the pig distribution system so I can have a lot or a little and doesn't skunk on you. It also travels well. 2.25 gallons, sits in the fridge next to the bacon as a pig should.
It is very smooth leans more to the malty side instead of hoppy, ginseng present and some hint of coffee as well. I have had several friends pour a beer from this pig and those who like a porter are not disappointed at all.
Dark brown color, tough to see through, nice long finish, average carbonation levels. This is a hearty porter that you can really chew on.
If in Covalis I will try it on tap as well.
Great porter!!

Think of this beer as composed of two distinct elements. The first of these is a skillfully presented porter with hearty robust flavor and a solid opaque body. The second element is an herbal infusion of four different ginseng roots: American, Korean, Siberian, and Chinese Tienchi. The peculiar marriage of malted barley, whole hops, and a blend of four ginsengs results in a dark muscular beer with the rooted sensibilities of an herbal tonic. Talk about yin and yang. This beers got plenty of both.
The flavor has every element of a fine roasted porter. Nothing is lost or compromised. The ginseng only adds an earthen depth to an already substantial ale, creating an unfiltered, invigorating, and near-medicinal brew.
Of course, ginseng is not everyones cup of tea. But it just might be your mug of porter. Don't miss the opportunity to find out for yourself.

A rare treat to have on tap here in the North East. Many thanks to Redbones for their devotion to the NW brews. Solid black in color with a tan head that leaves a nice lace. Sweet smell with hints of chocolate and coffee which is exactly what I would expect. What is didn't expect is how sweet the taste is. The Ginsing gives it a whole new demention. Not as robust as other Porters I have had. I bit sweeter than I prefer but the complexity makes up for it. I should also note some great hop notes in there as well.

Tasted at the 2003 Oregon Brewers Fest. Dark brown color. Medium head. Aroma is spicy (Ginseng?) and malty. A medium bodied porter. Malts are nutty and sweet. Chocolate and coffee flavor are subdued somewhat by an earthiness that could be from the ginseng. Kind of interesting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
