The distributor brought by new perk by the store - a Party Pig full of Oregon Trail IPA. Took my growler to work today and brought home a couple pints worth.
Pours a pretty deep orange with golden highlights, topped by a creamy off-white head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass. Aroma is similar to that of an ESB - sweet, bready caramel malt, noble hops, and a hint of treacle. Palate is well-balanced between sweet malt and tangy hops. Grapefruit and treacle notes are detectable before the fairly rich, malty finish. Body is pleasantly creamy, very nice for this style. Although I'd like to see what this brewery could do in terms of a Northwest-style IPA, this is a very solid offering of the English variety.

Had a bit of this on tap at Hop Madness. It was definately in the right place.
The ale pours a bright yellow/copper with a full white crown of foam. It has pretty good clarity and excellent carbonation.
The aroma is a rather bold alfalfa bale green and not subtle. There's also a nice malt aroma that suggests a body.
The taste is championed by the assertive hops - strong green hop bitterness. Once again, its not subtle, and really is intended for those who like their hops. The body is also quite formidible; nice sweet and bready malt flavors. This certainly improves the beer's
The mouth is left wanting more, but you can't drink too much without some water or food to break the spell.

This is an English-style, traditional IPA. It is brilliantly clear, bright copper in appearance with lackadaisical bubbles. It is headless and flat but not stale far from it. Oregon Trails IPA (I wish it had a proper name) is driven by a biting bitter dominance from start to finish especially the finish. It has no aroma until agitated when a grassy, malty scent pokes through. The color is superb, the mouthfeel routine.
This is a smart English-style bitter ale. Have one. At least.
