£ 4.85/imperial pint on handpump at the Royal Hotel, Ullapool, Scotland.
Appearance – 4.25.
Body – Amber, hazy.
Head – Multiple pulls to form a 1.5cm head, white, creamy, excellent retention, slooowly diminishing to an irregular three to five mm ring and complete layer. A complete wide ring of lacing remains after head retraction.
Lacing – Very good – thick, wide rings of predominantly tiny bubbles.
First pour – NA.
Aroma – 3 - Very weak hops.
Flavor – 4 – A nice blend of hops and light malt, fruity. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and summation – 3.75 – Very pleasing and easy-drinking English IPA. Certainly less hopped than any American IPA but extremely well-balanced.
