on-tap @ Beck's Brewpub
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color. Head is ok at first but recedes too quickly to a thin collar. It did leave a decent lacing on the glass, though.
Smell: Burnt caramel aroma. Biscuity sweetness up-front and faint metallic smell also.
Taste: Taste is of lightly roasted malt, toffee and chocolate sweetness. Hints of molasses and caramel as well. No harsh bitterness at all..entirely malt-driven.
Mouthfeel: A bit thin in the mouthfeel for a dunkel. Medium-bodied, yet smooth. Carbonation is well-done and lively...makes it surprisingly refreshing for a dark beer.
Drinkability: Quite drinkable. All of Beck's brews are, really. The lack of complexity and (I assume) relatively low abv make them highly quaffable beers. I hope they try something a bit more adventurous in the near future...a double IPA for instance *hint, hint*.

Described as a "Bock and a half" by my young bartender, I had to consult the nearest-to-the-brewmaster staff member to find out that this was, in fact, a Weizenbock.
Poured pretty nice. Dark brown but almost no head and I specifically asked that kid to put a head on it.
Smells great. Dark chocolate and roasted malt against a deep, rich toffee. Surprisingly nice.
Tastes like... whoa. I hope you like diactyl, because that's pretty much all there is. Rich, buttery diactyl with just a hint of chocolate in the back. Not bad, but not too good, either.
Nice body and it goes down smooth.
