On-tap at the World Beer Fest Brewers party served in a standard pint-glass a crisp dark orange with a nice frothy off-white head that diminished to a ring and left slight lacing. Aroma was a subtle blend of citrus hops and sweet malts. The taste was also citrus hops and sweet malts. The beer was light, crisp and refreshing. This one was an enjoyable Pale Ale.

This is the flagship of all Ham's beers, Sunfest be damned:
Growler; poured within moments of its tap-birth into a Duvel glass yields a sparkling-clear copper-orange-bronze body with four fluffy fingers of eggshell-white head atop. The massive crown recedes into a nice fat cloud-wallop of foam before leaving fluffy bands of lacing stuck all over the inside of the glass.
The pungent aroma is floral, grassy, and sweet, with a blast of green grass, a mild hint of tangy evergreen, succulent toasty malts and and a twist of citrus.
This brew tastes good. Gobs of Cascade hops provide plenty of bitter citrus-style whipass; the malty backbone is toasty and lightly sweet with a note of clean malty caramel that fattens as the beer warms. This is a nice clean drink with lingering earthy hop bitterness and just a touch of pleasant citrus-oil zip.
Smooth and crisp in the mouth with a near-perfect medium body. Likable and extremely drinkable. Fresh beer is the best!

Quite a nice pale ale from this establishment. A little darker than most, but still tasty. Poured a pale amber with an okay head and some lacing. The nose has some nice light citrusy hops and a pleasant biscuity aroma. The taste as well echoes those same yeast/biscuity flavors, while the hops taste a little more earthy than they smell. A well brewed beer, and the nouthfeel shows it as well, substantial, crisp, and smooth. Quite a nice drinker, this one.

A fine Pale Ale at the Brewer's Jam, Knoxville TN. Starts off with a darker-than-usual amber/brown color and with a head formation / retention that I wish was better; but that's where the negatives end. The aromas, albeit faint are a nice blend of caramel, malt, toasted bread, and biscuits. All malt characters are tipped by a firm hop flavor and bitterness; sometimes seeming balanced, sometimes favoring the hops. The texture is a very drinkable firm malty feel with a crisp, minty finish. A very good session.

Cloudy dark orange pour with white head. Some lacing down the glass. Pine and citrus aromas dominate with some undefined sweet malt. Flavor is very similar. bitter grapefruit and piney hop flavors followed by sweet malt and finally some a tiny touch of biscuit malt in the finish followed by more bitter hop flavor. While hops are what this beer is about, it's not a total hop bomb and it is a really tasty beer. Drinkability is pretty good, but I've gotten pretty trashed on three of these, so care is required.

Over time this beer has gotten stronger and tastier. Malt profile has increased with no corresponding decrease in hop profile. This beer has evolved into a very tasty American IPA.

Pours a cloudy orange amber color. Has a thick and lacy white head. Retention is impressive and last through out the life the beer. Has a nice hoppy citrus aroma from the cascade hops. The flavor is a typical American IPA. Has a sharp hop presence at first. Citrusy and hints of pine. Bread like malts help this ale from being unbalanced. Medium bodied and has a dry hoppy (but clean) aftertaste. This by far is Ham's best beer and has been brewed as long as I can remember. But they did kick up the alcohol since the NC law changed. It is now 6.3%.

Thanks to hoppedup for picking this growler up for me over in Greenville, pours a burnt orange color with a thin wispy head that settles leaving no lace behind.Aromas of mainly cracker malt and herbal "green" hop but on the lighter side.First off this is very quaffable the type of ale to drink all night at the bar without getting thrown out for slumping over the bar more hoppy than the name may suggest its more of an IPA hop wise its got a healthy dose of piney, resiny hop but held up well to a firm pretty dry cracker malt backbone. Its below 6% for sure due to the fuckin law here but that adds to its drinkability.

Appearance: Pours a clear light amber body with a small head that quickly fades to a collar
Smell: Citrus fruit nose, mostly lemons and grapefruit
Taste: A little biscuity sweetness on the tip of the tongue is quickly overwhelmed by an assertive hoppy bitterness that is long-lasting
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and refreshingly carbonated
Drinkability: This hoppy pale ale is quite tasty although I prefer a bit more fruitiness in the style
