Malt foreward and a light toastiness. But lacking in backbone. Pretty good, would have again.

Draft at the Ithaca Alehouse served in a frosted pint glass. I thought I ordered the only Roosterfish selection that was available on the menu "the firehouse blonde." However, this is the brew that appeared before me. Perfectly clear amber with a thin off-white head.

The aroma is quite muted, not much to be found but what is evident is clean and well done. A hint of fruity alcohol overtop a caramel malt base. Not bad.

The taste follows the nose. A bit of caramel malt and faint floral hop quality. A bit of fruity alcohol is evident as the experience continues. It is fairly clean, crisp and easy drinking.

This is a medium bodied brew with a light level of carbonation. It is easily approachable and easy drinking but otherwise quite forgettable. I was half way through my glass and still trying to figure this one out style-wise.

Served on tap at the Roosterfish Brewpub as part of a flight sampler.

A: Similar in color to the Dogtooth Pale Ale except slightly darker. It's a clear copper color with orange tones. Little head that disappeared quickly and left sporadic, light lacing.

S: Again as with the Pale Ale, the aroma is borderline non-existent. Slight malty tones, perhaps a bit of caramel but again, it was very faint so I could be wrong.

T: I hate to keep doing this but it's true, its taste is very similar to that of the pale ale except it's slightly leaning towards being maltier. Definitely picking up on the amber malt and the cascade hops but there isn't much beyond that.

M: Light body, medium carbonation, little aftertaste that doesn't linger.

O: This is a decent Amber ale that could hold up to most of the beers in this class. Not one I'd desperately need to find, but a solid beer.

On draft at the brewpub.

Poured a medium amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a grassy hop and light toasted malt.

The taste was likewise grassy and toasted with a touch of earthiness.

The mouthfeel was toward the lighter side of the style.

Overall a standard amber. Nothing too exciting.

Appearance- It is a hazy brown beer with light tan head and lace. The lace was very loose.

Smell- It has a very well rounded smell. You can smell and equal balance of hops and malt. It is floral but sweet.

Taste- The flavor is sort of a burnt wood type of bitter not exactly my style but it is not bad either.

Mouthfeel- It is medium bodied with very little carbonation.

Drinkability- It is alright for a sample maybe this beer will be you thing but it is no mine.

Not too reach for too extravagant a description, but the color of this amber is a bit like heavily burnished wood. The aroma is faint and not quite redolent of anything specific. In taste it wavers fairly nicely between hops and malt, but nothing really stands out. The hint of carbonation in the mouth is pleasant. In all, a decent, medium-body beer to have with a meal but hardly outstanding, especially in comparison to Rooster Fish's other products, which I do like quite a bit.

The beer pours an amber color with a thin white lace head that fades to spotty lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a mild malt scent that boasts of pale, crystal, and roasted malts along with a well pronounced hop aroma. The taste is average. It boasts of pale and crystal malts along with a solid hop character. It's weak in the finish and seems a bit watery and lopsided. The mouthfeel is average as well. It is a medium bodied beer with less than adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good drinking beer despite it's flaws. It has excellent hop character and a decent malt bill. It needs some work and a better mouthfeel. A little more malt character and increased carbonation would make this a solid offering.
