Sampled on tap at the brewpub
Poured a dark brown with reddish highlights when held to light, thinnish head and retention. Freshly roasted coffee fills my nostrils, this porter was not made with a subtle addition of coffee. Hints of caramel and roasted grains deep underneath. Taste is coffee up front. Roasted grains, burnt caramel and dark fruits play a supporting role, but the star of this show is coffee. The body comes off a touch on the thin side, carbonation is low, mouthfeel is like watery coffee. So can I say coffee any more in this review? I thought his was OK, but there was one ingredient that I thought distracted rather that enhanced this beer.
