22oz bottle courtesy of Skyhand (again, Kim winds up providing me with a vast amount of the beer I consume)
Pours a hazy orange with a massive off white head that fills the glass, pours out and falls to the floor. Jeez, wasn't expecting that. The head takes a while to go down, but when it does it forms a very nice lacing and retention is pretty nice.
Smell is caramel malts, hops, and just a bit of tropical fruit. A bit musty, but still pretty good.
Taste is caramel, bitter and hop flavors, a hint of alcohol and quite sweet. Sweetness kind of overshadows the hops which is a bit of a shame, as this one has a lot of potential, but in large quantities I could see the sweetness becoming a bit cloying.
Mouthfeel is okay, as I said, sweetness is a bit much, but other than that it's pretty good.
Overall, a good DIPA, nothing too outstanding, but nothing to scoff at either. At 10.5% you can't taste the alcohol at all, so watch out, as it does sneak up on you.

Upon pouring this an enormous white head erupted almost out of the glass, and I had to wait for quite a while before it died down. Slightly cloudy orange body and the head left a very light lace. Juicy with citric smells and a fairly large amount of malty sweetness. A bit too much sweetness as it wore on me towards the end of the bottle. Taste was even more so sweet with the same hop juice like quality. At first it was interesting but after a short amount of time it got to be a bit of chore. This could definitely benefit from toning down the sweetness. Solid body on it and fairly smooth going down. Drinkability is brought down by the tiring sweetness. Not a bad beer just one that didnt really do it for me when I wanted a Double IPA. Thanks goes to kim for the bottle.
