on tap poured into a tumbler at the brewpub in Cleveland. pours black with a single finger of tan dense head that leaves no lacings and has weak retention.
aroma is of mildly roasted malts and a touch of chocolate, with some earthy tones in the background. well put together in the nose, but with the characteristics of an irish dry stout than an oatmeal stout. a touch of coffee shows itself upon a bit of warming as well.
taste follows the nose with a more distinct coffee character than the nose, and a thin quality that again lends itself more to an irish dry stout. the flavors work well, but still a bit thin.
mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. for an irish dry stout, not bad, but lacking body and character of a typical oatmeal stout. goes down smooth with residual roasted malts upon finishing.
drinkability is great. this could be a session beer in its thinness, but still works well for what it is.
