A 330ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2015. Acquired a little while back from a supermarket. The label describes it as being brewed with Czech pilsner yeast followed by lagering on a bed of Saaz hops. Tasty (in theory).
A: Poured into a stemmed pilsner glass. Bottle conditioned. A pale-gold hue with fine sediment and light carbonation. Forms a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before dissipating.
S: Aroma of light malt with hints of cooked grain, mild earthy yeast, stewed leaves, faint overdone veg and a twinge of unripe apples. Unimpressive.
T: Tastes of light malt with a dry finish. Notes of cooked grain, stewed leaves, earthy yeast, mild unripe apples, a touch of cabbage water and subtle harsh cardboard in the background. Well-attenuated, followed by a mild, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Perhaps a tad watery. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of feeble cooked grain, vague stewed leaves and cardboard.
O: Bleh - not very nice. Looks OKish, however the aroma and flavour are bland and coloured by off-notes. Little hop presence. So-so body. Frankly I was expecting this to be decent; the reality is a let-down. No better than macro brews - do yourself a favour and give it a miss.
