Enjoyed at the brewpub, fresh. Good porter. Roast licorice aroma. German magnum, terrmeny hops. Bold flavour of roast barley, some chocolate malt, well balanced. Dark brown colour and lots of lace. 4/4 have not had a bad one from this emerging brewpub. Good drinkability.

I've only had one true smoked porter before and it was the Cumberland's Nitro Porter but with smoke flavoring making it a really stong flavored beer, but I didn't like it as much as thier regular porter. Since this was the only dark beer on tap at RRBC when I went, I decided to try it.
It's dark as a porter should be with no head, another good pour. It smells however of a typical porter, without the heavy smoked malts of the Cumberland Smoked Porter, but as a plain porter, was very good. Mouth was creamy, rich, very much the porter in all respects. It was the taste...
Yes, the roasted malts of the beer were there, yes, it was complex with a little hoppiness, but as a smoked beer? It was, a little bit, smoked, but it just wasn't there. Above average porter, but missed for making the smoky flavor stick out as advertised.
Drinkability was, well, I would have had a few if there were no other tastes to be had.
