“Svagdricka” is a traditional Swedish fermented low alcohol malt drink, sweetened with saccharine and coloured with caramel.
The colour is very dark red-brown, almost black. The finger thick head is pale brown, it sinks slowly leaving no lacing.
The smell is malty and dry. Some roasted notes and a distinct tree flavour. Butterscotch, liquorice, stable and molasses in the background.
The taste is sweet and a bit roasted. Some passing notes of stable and wood. Medium body. The sweetness grows in the aftertaste as well as smooth notes of treacle and caramel. The finish is sweet, smooth and clean.
The carbonation is smooth, the small bubbles are fresh. The liquid is semi-smooth.
The stable (brett?) flavours disturbs an otherwise average svagdricka.
