Aug. 2006: On tap at The Rover, Göteborg. Amber colour, moderate head. Initially a strange aroma of sweaty socks, then some grapefruity hops come through. Flavour is malty and somewhat alcoholic with raisin notes. Quite sweet, more of a barleywine style.

Pours a murky orange with soft, fine head.
Smell is piney and a bit floral. Pretty aggressive with notes of grapefruit and lemon peel.
Taste is a solid punch in the face with a powerful bitterness and huge notes of pine and grapefruit. Some booze and floral elements along with some grassiness. Long finish.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft and sticky, well carbonated.
This beer hadn't been brewed for close to five years, before a new batch was made in 2020. I'm glad they made it, as this reminds me of the original Ruination. Not quite as overpowering, but a sort of spiritual kin.
Overall, a great powerful DIPA.

The colour is deep gold; the two finger head is warm off-white. Lots of lacing occurs.
The smell is very potent - I feel the presence of American hops all over the beer garden I was sitting in. Lots of citric notes, lime peels, cream, butter scotch and a touch of dough.
The taste is complex and strong with a lot of earthy and citric flavours and a fine sour note of fresh strawberries. Lots of malt and a good amount of sweetness and butter are balanced by a powerful rounded bitterness, notes of beef stock. The long and almost demanding aftertaste got notes of dark bread, and mixed citric fruits.
The carbonation is mild, the bubbles are medium sized. The liquid is smooth and a bit sticky.
A complex and strong beer that is a little hard to categorize: The malt of a barley wine, the bitterness of an Ameriacn IPA and the hops of a DIPA. Anyway, this is a grand beer.
