250 mL bottle. Black body. Smells of strong rum, roasted malt, brown bread. Tastes of roasted malt, rum, and a little dark fruit. Heavy and boozy. The rum leaves a ton of alcohol in the stout. Don't think this contributes to the base beer in any positive way.

Bottle. 2016.
Tan head. Black color.
Huge rum aroma and notes. Licorice and molasses, chocolate covered cherries, big rum and oak notes with some spice. Light vanilla. Very unique. Very warming finish from the rum barrels. Caramel malts. Full bodied. Smooth and warming.
This was a treat. So glad to have tried this one.

Poured to a BrewDog snifter.
A: The body is pitch black with a big opacity. No light goes through this. The head is minimal and beige and lives only to the side of the glass.
S: The aroma is giant on roasted malt, coffee and with a medium hint of rum. It has the rum influence without being overwhelming which makes it a very exquisite beer and also very balanced.
T: Taste starts off with the sweetness from the a chocolaty malt profile, moving to a molasses to toffee profile still providing support on the sweet side and then it vanishes in the mouth with a very crystalline taste of an imperial stout without the alcohol power. In the back, there's always this highly sweet and medium tart profile of the rum providing support to whole flavour but it works so perfectly well that this is actually the best barrel aged stout I've ever had in my life.
M: Body is medium to high. Carbonation is perfect. Alcohol is sensed but it's not overwhelming. In the end, the mouth gets a bit watery due to the alcohol you can't feel but it's good.
O: This is huge. Would love to try a plain version of this.
