September 2007: Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Hoppy aroma with oaky and vinous notes. Very malty, sweet and alcoholic flavour. A bit too much sweetness and alohol.

Shared by someone at Flossmoor pre-DLD. This brew is a murky umber hue and is capped with a small dollop of tan froth. The brew shows notes of brown sugar, naked grain, dates, cardboard and oxidation. It tastes almost like unhopped wort. I am somewhat bewildered by this brew; I cannot imagine the intent (and if it is near the mark.)

Thanks to bosse for this one. Unlabeled 25cl bottle. Served in a plastic cup at Flossmoor Station. This one is just over four years old
A - Pours with a dime of light tan foam that settles to some wisps and a ring of bubble, leaving minimal lace. The body is a hazed orange-brown color. Style-appropriate if nothing else.
S - Very sweet, with plenty of brown sugar, honey, malted grains, and port-like oxidation. Somewhat nutty as well. Gets a bit saccharine and cloying.
T - Sweet, with plenty of sugar, honey, and vanilla, mild oxidation, and some lightly toasted grains.
M - Low carbonation, medium-full body, sticky finish. No apparent alcohol.
D - It's a somewhat above average barleywine (more accurately an Imperial ESB) that has grown overly sweet and oxidized at this stage. I shared the bottle with some friends and wasn't particularly bothered by my small pour. I think this one is well past its best before date.

Thick brown translucent body and a weak thin head. Strange Riesling aroma, not sure if that's correct but definitely had a white wine smell. Unsure if this was bottled from a tap or brewery production. Some honey, alcohol and Euro hops are prevalent as well. More honey in the taste, no noticeable alcohol and an earthy bitterness from the hops. Viscous and chewy in the mouth and leaves a coating for several minutes. It is fairly drinkable and would have it again, just didn't wow me.
