May 2012. Närke Bäver. On tap from a urinal(!) at HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Sweet Jesus - who is crazy enough to use the secretion from beaver anal glands (castoreum) in BEER??!! Apparently, the guys at Närke are! The beer has an amber colour, moderate off-white head. Weird and penetrating aroma of beaver (insert jokes here at your own will), reminds me of smelly oils and undefined chemical waste. Hints of leather too. Dry flavour with a rather disgusting dominance of castoreum. Some hops in the finish. Nope, this is not a beer for me.

Served out of a Urinal which was being used as tap at Borfets 2012.
The brewers at Narke said that this was a very special beer brewer using the Musk/ass gland of a Beaver (Castoreum).
I couldn't make this up if I tried.
The color what brown and it had minimal head. Smooth mouthfeel. Quite drinkable. A bit of smokey peat flavor. Apparently they guys from Narke use a lot of smoked malts. The finish was the key on this one. It was musky swampy and dirty. Whoa!
I wouldn't say this is a great beer. It was awesome to try however and I would say this is at the far extremes of brewing.
