Pours a dark amber with thick, fine beige head.

Smell is malty with plenty of caramel and some floral and peppery notes.

Taste is very balanced, with a nice malty base with a bit of caramel carrying the floral hops to a medium bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium, almost creamy, and well carbonated.

Overall, a solid dark beer, nothing spectacular, but so well made and balanced.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's a shame that a beer that smells and tastes as this lacks body. But it's very drinkable nevertheless.

 

 

 

 

Easter ale from 2013. On the bottle it says: Best before august 2013.

Rubyred-orange beer that are a little hazy.

Two finger high, white, head that leaves lacing on the glass.
Nose: Caramel malt, dried fruit, mango, orange marmelade and oak.
Taste: Caramel, brown sugar, toffee, dark fruit, spices and malt.

I'm supriced this taste so good! Great nose and likewise taste! Best before seven months ago - I don't think so! This is delicious!

I would say it's even better now than when I tried it when it was fresh at easter 2013...

 

 

 

 

A: Pours an amber colored beer into the glass. The two finger high head is colored off white. The liquid is clear without any sign of carbonation.

S: Smells of dark malts, citrus tones, dried grass and finishes off with grapefruit and orange peel.

T: The taste is very balanced between the malts and the hops. It has a clean bitter aftertaste and American citrus hops up front. There is definitely more orange peel then grapefruit in this one.

M: Light to medium body with a faint carbonation.

O: A good ale with the typical Oppigårds characteristics. Well balanced all in all.

Testing this beer well chilled, poured from a bottle into a tulip glass.

A: Pouring this copper red/brown beer into the glass creates a small (1cm / ½-inch) thick foamy head that shrinks relatively fast.

S: The smell is pretty much what i did expect, there's plenty of malty and sweet tones in here together with some bitter tones in the back.

T: As found in the smell there is lots of malts in here. But contrary the sweet tones found in the smell, the taste got more roasted tones. There's a very nice and well balanced hoppy bitterness all over the taste making it very good.

M: There's nice carbonation going on here that hits you at first. Then the roasted malt tones and the bitterness comes in, they are working good together and ends in a more dry mouthfeel at the end.

O: A great tasting easter ale with plenty of roasted malt tones that works great in combination with the well balanced hops.

 

 

 

A: Pours copper with large beige kind off fluffy head. Nice lacings.

S: Lots of hops, floral and bitter. I would think England with the rich fruits, but there's also some citric and piney notes, American-style.

T: Sweet caramell malt together with a nice hoppyness; bitter and still rich floral; citric and piney. But there's a buttery wibe, like in an English Brown Ale. Lots of apricots.

M: Aftertaste is a bit short and holds sweetness as well as bitterness. THe body is a bith thinner than one could expect from a American Strong Ale. The carbonation is medium.

O: Nice ale, that I'd like to buy anytime of the year.

Appearance: Oppigårds Easter Ale pours a somewhat cloudy, dark amber-to-ruby colour along with a light brown/buff-toned crown of fuzzy character and great resilience, eventually leaving plenty of lacing alongside the glass.

Smell: Peachy bubblegum, apricot sweetness and fresh up-front pine-hops. Continually, itsy bitsy teenie weenie amount of vinous notes pop up, slightly more notes of caramel-cream lurks in the background.

Taste: Direct bitterness, zesty and fresh in its longevity these characteristics get interspersed with a recurrence of the caramelly malts, with a bready backdrop and some clove spiciness lingering and dominating -- yet not to the point of taking over completely.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, that is to say medium-to-full in viscosity, yet coarse. The carbonation is lower than what was originally expected (alert).

Drinkability: Resounding with tastes and smells surrounding your senses with offences of a worthwhile style!

The liquid is clear; the colour is deep amber-red. The high pale brown head sinks slowly to a fine thick lid, leaving lots of lacing.

The smell is bitter and hoppy. Lots of dried fruits, some roasted notes and hints of apricots and plums. It is British with an American twist.

The taste starts with a crisp bitterness. Fruity hops: Dried apricots, lemons, bitter oranges, ripe red apples and hints of grape fruits and raisins. The malts give passing mild notes of caramel and rye bread. The aftertaste got a mature and elegant bitterness with some dried exotic fruits, hints of flour and lemon peels and a lingering dry finish.

The carbonation is medium, the small bubbles fresh. The liquid is a little light.

As I remember it from the last time I reviewed this beer (in April 2006) this beer have became much hoppier over the years. Not that it is a bad thing, but it will probably not suit the traditional Swedish Easter dishes as well.

Pours a deep redish amber with a thick off-white head that dies down a little faster than expected, little to no lacing.

Smells resiny and piny, much hop up front, as well as a semi-sweet maltiness backing it up, a little spice to the malt as well.

Taste follow suite with resiny, fruity hops in the start, moving over to a biscuity, slightly spicy maltiness, with a thint of chocolate to it, and lastly a robust hop bitterness cleans the table for the next swallow.

Creamy and smooth mouthfeel, small and soft bubbles makes for a really comfortable drink.

A clear amber/copper bear, with an off-white large head that leaves lacing.

The smell is dominated by floral, citric hops. Grape-fruit, pine and dried flowers.

A sweet toffee and syrup tone that is complemented with short bread and a good remaining bitterness.

Medium carbonated, a soft and creamy feel.

As traditional Swedish easter beers it is quite sweet, but very well balanced. Goes well with traditional food.

A: A clear red/brown liquid with a white head that quickly turns into a thin lid. Some lace.

S: A sweet and candy like malty smell.

T: Some alcohol at the first sip, but that's something that I don't recognize later on. This beer has a nice malty and fruity flavour with a balanced aftertaste of hops. Perhaps a little metallic.

M. Like a cask conditioned bitter with more CO2.

D: Nice, but nothing extra.

Serving date: 2009-03-25.

A: Dark amber with brown hues. Somewhat cloudy. Slightly beige and uneven but thick head. Small lacings.

S: Interesting but not that powerful smell. Sweet malts, caramel, some brown sugar. Pleasant fruity hops (orange, peach).

T: Toffee, nuts, oatmeal cookies, some herbs, orange peel, dried apricots and a general fruitiness that's quite pleasant. Nice balance between the different flavors, though sweetness is slightly dominating. The finish has a gentle herbal bitterness to it, some grass, mild spices and a faint note of dry earth just at the end.

M: Medium body, quite high levels of carbonation. Still feels rather creamy, though.

D: It seems like there's a well executed craftsmanship behind this beer. However, it's really not that bold. A good and pleasant beer, but nothing extravagant.

Creamy medium head, off-white. colour is copper. Lots of lacing. Smell is delightfully hoppy, fruity citrus, grass, straw. Flavour is also is also hoppy and nicely balanced with malts. It has a very apealing finishing bite. It lacks a bit of body for the highest marks, but the flavour is there.
outhfeel is nice, small bubbles and the liquid is a bit sticky, this is a great easter ale!

A: Deep copper/dark amber, cola like color. Tan foamy head that stays.
S: Red berries, caramel, rye bread, chocolate fudge, buttery tones.
T: Bitterness with a metallic hint, charcoal, caramel, swedish snuff, hint of licorice and salty tones. Bitterness in the aftertaste, and estragon.
M: Low carboration, medium body.
D: Very good.
