The colour is deep brown-red (30 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger head is compact and beige. It sinks slowly leaving almost no lacing.
The smell is hoppy and somewhat bitter with notes of citric peels and dried exotic fruits. Powerful notes of milk chocolate and biscuits. It is one of the sweetest smells I have had from an Oppigårds beer.
The taste got distinct notes of milk chocolate and brown sugar. Growing clean bitterness, smooth roasted “red” flavours. Dried fruits and hints of citric peels. Medium body. The aftertaste got somewhat green hoppy flavours, smooth chocolate and caramelised sugar. Brown cookies and growing notes of hazelnuts, Some alcohol and smooth sweet flavour in the finish.
The carbonation is light, the small bubbles fresh. The liquid is smooth.
I use to be sceptic when it comes to brown ales, but as usual Oppigårds delivers a balanced and well crafted experience.

A: This beer is beautifully deep copper with a brown compact, medium-tall head. Rich lacings after the slow dissipation.
S: Roasted dry malt, almost no sweetness. Chocolate and faint strong black coffee. The smell is actually very mild, sadly. Some dark dried fruits.
T: Nice bitterhops together with the hard roasted malt. Almost no sweetness left. Strong black coffee and faint dark chocolate. In the back, a mild vanilla tone. Some licorice as well.
M: Aftertaste is short but lovely bitter. Body is medium full while carbonation is strong, overall very smooth.
O: Well, the smell was to light, otherwise - not too shabby.
