The Northwoods Cedar Amber is ok. The first thing I smelled when I opend the bottle was birthday cake. The beer poured a rich clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a lace. The scent has a faint sweet roll/bread flare. The taste is very similar to most home brewed ambers...you know what Im talkin about. The mouthfeel is ligher in body with good cabonation. Overall this is a ok....but certainly not my fav from northwoods.

This beer pours a murky dark red color. The head is a half inch in height, and recedes quickly into sparse lacing. The aroma is a mix of caramel and butterscotch. The taste is similar. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Overall, this is a very poorly made beer. It isn't completely overrun with diacetyl, but there is enough of it to ruin anything it might have going for itself. I will not drink this beer again, nor will I drink anything from Northwoods Brewpub and Grill again.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, red-amber body with a small white head.

Smell: Faint caramel with, well let me put it this way: "Parkay".

Taste: I don't know where to begin. Weak, grainy flavor. Faint whisper of hops on the finish. Mostly, though, it's butter through and through.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A beer riddled with problems.

Served on draft at Northwoods. Another fizzy and hoppy brew. More of a pale ale in taste. Again, the hops tend to overwhelm what malt there is, but I can't really fault any brewer for pushing the hops when his clientele seems to gravitate more to the standard beers.

This hazy dark amber brew throws a miniscule head. Aroma is caramel malt. Taste surprised me. For some reason, my expectations were not high for this beer (or the other 5 I have in my mixed pack). But their is some character in this beer. Great hop bitterness backed by a solid caramel malt backbone. Solid amber beer.
