Presentation: 12 oz. brown bottle with the bottling date notched on the label. Served in a Rastal Craft Master Grand.

Appearance: The one finger head stays around for a while and leaves some good lacing that covers the entire glass. It's a beautiful, dark reddish amber color.

Smell: It's mostly sweet but not that strong. There are some malt and toasted pecan notes but that's pretty much it.

Taste: There's some caramel malt sweetness in the beginning immediately followed up by a spicy, hot pepper kick on the back of the throat. There's a slight nutty aftertaste with some peppercorns as well. The combination of flavors just doesn't work. It's jarring in a way that's just unpleasant for a beer.

Mouthfeel: It's light and slightly creamy with medium-low carbonation. It would be refreshing if it weren't for the constant hot pepper presence on the palate.

Overall: The only redeemable feature of this beer is the looks. The smell is weak and uninteresting and the taste is a mess, even if you appreciate spicy food and hot peppers.

12 oz bottle with March 2017 bottling date notched on the label.
Pours dark reddish brown with a decent near white head.
Aroma: some vegetative and peppery aspects, presumably from the peppers. The cocoa nibs and pecans are not evident here, and there's only rather faint cocoa in the flavor. Still, nice flavor with the nutty brown ale showing and some moderately strong heat from the peppers.
Near medium body and medium carbonation.
