Notes: A rustic Mississippi Ale inspired by the Delta Blues. A sinister brew with a seductive balance of sweetness, resinous pine, and citrus aromas. Find yourself at the "crossroads" of alluring malt character and deviant hop backbone while celebrating the blues legends.

From the can, it pours a nice hazy amber with a nice head that lasts and leaves a bit of lace. In the nose, I get malt and some citrus. In the mouth, malt forward with a hoppy ending.

Looked good. Clear, dark burgundy with a small, cream colored head. It smelled very sweet and somewhat boozy. tasted overly sweet. Boozy. Very little hop bitterness for balance.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear consistency. There was a huge, creamy, long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: Kind of a boozy aroma, with some pine, malt, and fruit mixed in.

T: Tasted of a little bit of citrus (lemon), a lot of pine, a whole boatload of malt, some hops (especially in the finish), and a bit of caramel. In theory, this flavor should be better than it is. Unfortunately the malt simply dominates everything else.

F: A highly carbonated beer with a somewhat harsh, dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Overall, this beer is something of a misfire. Could have been better.

Appearance: Rose gold with egg shell cap and good lacing.

Aroma: Nice, sweet malt followed by notes of citrus and conifer.

Taste: Rich, sweet malt, rounded hops dovetailing in, malt leads from entry to mid palate where the hops catch up and linger through the aftertaste. On first tasting I thought a Belgian Tripel made with American hops. This is a rather simple combination but it works.

Texture: Full medium if that makes any sense.

Overall: A good, uncomplicated blend of malt and hops. It does taste like a Belgian Tripel with American hops, citrusy, resiny, but not too much or too little. At 8% I won't be knocking 'em back but I can see this as an interesting change of pace.

Hazy amber/brown brew with a decent foamy white head that recedes slowly and leaves a bit of nice lacing.

The aroma is caramel malt with pine resin notes.

The taste is caramel malt, fresh biscuits, maybe a hint of honey and pears with definite pine resin and grapefruit developing and lingering in the aftertaste.

Nicely balanced between malt and hops. Light/medium mouthfeel, fairly smooth and drinkable, ABV is barely noticeable.

Altogether a pretty decent brew.

Loved the way this one smelled. The taste is toffee, toasted malt, caramel, with light pine and citrus hops. If anything, I think this could use a bit more hops to balance it out. This is an easy drinking sipper that I may get again, but would not rush out for.

Appearance: Slightly hazy orange-brown with a modest white head, which slowly collapses to a scattering of foam. Thin, fine-beaded lacing coats the glass walls. The carbonation is slight and drifts lazily to the surface.

Aroma: Toasted malt and caramel dominate the aroma, there are citric and pine hops as well. The high ABV (8.0%) is subtle in the aroma.

Taste: Begins with lots of sweet caramel and toasted malt. The citric and pine hops are present from the opening, but develop gradually, becoming dominant only late in the taste. The alcohol is omnipresent, although not oppressive, and only mildly warming. All of this seems surprising, in light of the high ABV. Finishes with a long, lingering note of pine and citric hops, supported by the toasted and caramel malts.

Mouth feel: Smooth full, and pleasant, the carbonation has a graceful feel.

Drinkability/notes: Quite good, more than a little bit like Stone Brewing's Arrogant Bastard, although a bit less pricey. A nice example and reasonably priced at $8.99 for a six-pack of twelve-ounce bottles.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Light amber in color with little to no lacing down the glass. Strong floral aroma hop scents with hints of vanilla or dried fruit. Caramel malt flavors with sweet background peak through first followed by subtle but not too overpowering bittering hops. Full bodied feel yet still finishes dry.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. Bottled September 13th 2014.

Deep orange to lemon bodied yellow. Kind of looks like a classic American barleywine, but only manages a half finger of faint tan head, before quickly dissolving into a bubbled collar. Slightly slick and oily top, but with a very nice contrast of orange, yellow, and even red color.

Interesting nose. Hints of honey and floral sweetness on the front, with a fairly candy like aroma. Not particularly fruity smelling, but a nice aroma. It really does remind me more of a braggot actually.

Oh boy this is a doozy. The mouthfeel on this has really gone south. Watery and with a bizarre mineral tinge to it, for a high gravity beer this has really light and wet character. Interesting flavors though, large honey cookie and biscuit sweetness. Flavors of waffery cookie and a bit of vanilla to match. Real unique flavor. Big biscuit like cookie finish as well, with hints of treacle and thin pancake syrup. Chalky aftertaste quite a bit too though.

Pine and citrus? Where? Has a real unique character unlike any other high gravity beer, but a classic example of how a bad mouthfeel can just ruin the party.

Pours a clear, amber color. 3/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of pale malt, sweet malt, slight caramel malt, hops, hint of alcohol, and a hint of spice. Does not appear to fit the style of an American Strong Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight pale malt, hint of hop, hint of alcohol, and a hint of pine. Overall, good appearance, but average aroma, body, and blend.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into an IPA glass.

L- Golden, really a beautiful color, nice white inch plus head that takes it's time fading. Leaves a flat cap of bubbles over the whole beer. Pretty much perfect.

S- Pleasant, fruity...makes me think of pears and bubblegum. Maybe honey or maple...something really sweet like that....almost tropical.

T- A little pine cone and citrus...very mellow (the bottle is dated 8/12/14...just noticed that)...might be the reason for the muted flavors...very soft. Don't really get any alcohol at all...and I was expecting a lil bit at least.

F- Medium at best...maybe a little less than that....not really flat just not really carbonated.

O- Nothing special here...don't really need to do this again. Too many fantastic beers out there to waste my time on this...
