Enjoyed in a growler from Eightball Brewing at The Party Source. This nice little American style barley wine pours a luminous reddish brown with a moderate head of off white foam that dissipates to a thin layer and nice ring with some nice lacing. Nose of caramel sweet malt, sticky hops, as well as moderate citrus notes of pineapple and orange. Flavors follow the nose with sweet malts to the front of the taste, followed by resinous hop flavors to the middle and back that help cut the sweetness. Citrus notes improve with warmth showing some pineapple and orange as well as some floral hop notes as well as a dash of toffee. Very nice and a good addition to the Moerlein family.
