Belgian yeast esters of apple, banana, pear, and a moderate funk dominate the aroma. There's a touch of sourness.

Flavor is fairly musty and pear dominant upfront, with cherry notes hitting mid palate and carrying into a bready, slightly sweet finish.

Deep into the dog days of summer, a bright, crisp and refreshing taste emerges from the banks of the Ohio river. Adorned with natural cherry essence, a spicy and fruit fare refreshes the palate and ushers in a vibrant session to beat the heat.

Christian Moerlein's Belgian Cherry Ale is sprinkles with a lazy haze that casts a veil over golden and slight pinkish hues. Its light and wisping froth billows forth a peppery perfume that's laden with apple, pear and cherry. Its light and bready-sweet taste highlights the beers grain character while fruit sweetness weaves into its light starchy matrix.

As the sweetness wavers, the fruits begin to pronounce more sharply. The cherry, apple and pear mingle with swiftly dissolving fructose as the ale trends drier and drier. Its peppery balance is piquant upon the palate and decorated with white pepper and clove. Hints of mint, vanilla and citrus leaf play out sharply before the finish.

Creaminess fades soon after the sweetness as the ale falls into a thinning, watery and with a pectin-rich bite. Hop bitterness is acute on the throat as a light warmth simmers from below. Its medium-length afterglow is of fruit and grain.
