Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a golden color with a large whit head. The head fades quite fast to give only a small amount of lacing.

Smell – The aroma is mainly of corn with some hints of caramel and brown sugar.

Taste – A bready flavor is the biggest and persists throughout the taste. In the beginning it is on the smoother side while at the end there is a bittering of the flavor with drier flavors of some earthiness, some alcohol and a strong biscuit malt

Mouthfeel – Light in body and higher in carbonation. Very average for the style and fitting.

Overall – Nothing too fantastic. Petty average actually.

I did not know that this brewery distributed in DC. By the looks of it, this hasn't been brewed in a while either. Oh well, bargain bin tick for 75 cents - not too bad.

Mildly hazy orange with a dense white head that recedes to a ring rather quickly, leaving no lace at all. For a 3+ year old Helles, this is decent. Oxidized pale malt with honey, caramel, no hops at all. Rather boring, I must say. The palate opens dry and rather cracker-like with faded malt character - honey, oxidized malts, dull and lifeless. Light in body with moderate carbonation, this has a dull and drying finish. A bore, this is going down the drain

Good lager indeed, very filling and flavorful. Aroma is nothing to get excited over but it's decent. Bright golden pour with a big white puffy head and lots and lots of lacing. Very full and thick mouthfeel (at least for a lager). Good malty flavor a touch of sweet grains along with some slight toastiness. Good choice for a lager, comparable to Leinenkugel's Original only a bit better.

Appearance- A bronze amber lager with a little head and lace.

Smell- Vague not much of any type of scent but mildly fruity.

Taste- It has an alright flavor but slightly metallic. A little fruity for a lager but still bitter.

Mouthfeel- Full bodied.

Drinkability- Easy to drink and good with a meal.

OK.... so I like the Dunkel....and I liked the Doppelbock (seasonal for Bockfest).... and I LOVED the new OTR(Over The Rhine) Ale. So, I thight that I would try the Lager again...it'd been a while.

While not my favorite style of beer, this is a good solid offering. I poured this bottle into my pint glass to produce a 3/4" head of creamy off-white color over the top of a yellow/orange (almost) clear liquid.

The scent was mild.... just a hint of malt.

The taste was quite complex! Lots of malt but with some sweet fruitiness to balance and add complexity. How to describe the friut?.... apples, pears and even some mild citrus.

Mouthfeel: Light and refreshing.... right on style for a Helles Lager. Nice mouth coating.... and aftertaste.

Drinkability: No problem downing several of these in a sitting.... no adverse effects.... just a nice refreshing brew.

12oz. bottle into a nonic. The pour raises a 1.5" white fizzy head that slowly falls to a thin ring over a deep gold, very clear, beer.

Aroma is malty/bready with some herbal hop.

Honey-like sweetness followed by fresh bread. Pronounced munich malt character makes this seem a little heavy for a helles, more like an Oktoberfest . Herbal hop through the middle leading to a nicely balanced finish with lingering honeyed malt.

Mouthfeel is a little thick and syrupy with less carbonation than I would expect, but again, it's not bad for an O'fest at all. Drinkability suffers as a result but not enough to keep the glass on the table for long. A nice beer.

I first had this beer in the cocktail lounge at the Terrace Hotel in downtown Cincy during the Midpoint Music Festival. I was impressed by how easy it was to put down 5 or 6 of these bad boys!

Fast forward a few years. I recently picked up a sixer at a liquor store in Covington. I was not as impressed this time around. For a "flagship" beer it is something to be desired. It is a water thin lager with a so-so taste. It reminds me more of bud than sam that is for sure. at $7/sixer it is a steep price even for a Cincinnati classic.

Poured a 12oz bottle into a tankard.

A: Golden and a bit cloudy, with a puffy white head that thins out to a white ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing.

S: Wheat and a little spice.

T and M: Something is a little off here with the balance, but I can't quite put my finger on it...seems a bit too sweet. The carbonation seems right; the body is thin and malty; however, there's a little snap in the aftertaste that just feels wrong.

D: All things considered, pretty drinkable.

Not a great representative of the style, but worth a try.

Dark golden, slightly haved beer, with a nice off white bubbly head. Slightlyy grassy hop aroma and balanced by malts. Semi bitter malty flavour with a very noticable hop "zing" to it, some tea-like tones also. Mouthfeel is maybe a tad on the thin side for style , but leads to a refeshing drink. OK not a great Helles but a good American lager IMO

I had this from a bottle at the Cincinatti airport while killing some time before a flight.

This beer pours very unimpressively into a glass. It is a hazy dull tan color...other lagers have a sparkling, shiny appearance. This one looks beer I brewed "in-the-bag" in a college dorm room.

Smell is very light and malty, and not unpleasant.

This beer tastes pleasant. It is a lager with some malty substance, but its malt character seems unbalanced, as I could detect virtually no hop character in this beer. I'm not suggesting the beer has no hops, but suggesting that the maltiness overpowers whatever hop notes are present.

Mouthfeel of this lager is nice. It feels substantial in your mouth (i.e. not watery) and is crisp and refreshing. Yet, this beer is also drinkable enough to have several of.

Poured a deep gold color with massive slightly off-white puffy head. Modest lacing. Smell is bready and fruity, but nothing special. Taste is slightly sweet with a nice bread-like maltiness. Finished light and refreshing. A nice beer, with an easy drinking style, But not anything great.

The beer had a white head that sits a top of a golden body with carbonation present in it. The head disipated quickly to a film and left little lacing. The smell and taste where largely dominated by a sweet malty character. Very very low hops profile. The beer was relatively thin by the high malt character gave it a false feeling of being chewy. Not high on my favorite list for this style of beer.

My first sample of any beer from this brewer, always nice to see a fresh face on the west coast. The select lager was poured into a pilsner glass. It formed an average sized Ivory white head that leaves some ring lacing. Bright, leaning towards amber in the core but still very light and shiney, loaded with fine carbonation.

This is pretty solid off the get go. Nicely balanced between sweet malts and dome drying Czech hops. Mildly spiced middle and a buttery finish lingers around a bit. Hops get better as the brew warms up just slightly, they become more drying and the saaz taste comes out beautifully.

Other than that annoying butter like quality this is a fine lager. Interesting enough to session.

Poured into a pint glass from a bottle. Deep golden color that is a little foggy with a nice head though very quick to dissapate. Left some lace on the glass. Has very little to no smell at all. Tastes clean with a medium malt body that is a bit sweet and a touch of hop in the finish. Malt is the dominating flavor here but still balanced enough. Good lager and a good warm weather beer. Purchased a 12 pack of bottles for $9.99. Nothing stands out from the crowd with this but its availability and value makes it a good step up from fizzy yellow land.

Slightly above average looking lager. Deep golden orangish hues. But a hard pour resulted in a lackluster head of white that left little lace.

Thick malt aromas, with a push of carbonation, some other fruity hard to pinpoint aromas as well.

A buttery, malty, toasty lager. Mouthfeel is light, crisp and refreshing. Hints of white fruits with some citrus notes. A good session beer.

Pretty good lager. The sweetness and thicker body detracts from the cleanness and crispness that is great about lagers. The appearance is a viscous golden / orange with expected carbonation and retention. Smells quite malty, sweet, and with hints of fruitiness. Fruit flavors are reminescent of over-ripened oranges, apples, peaches, pears, and pineapples. A corn or rice flavor also compounds the sweetness. Body is a little on the heavy side, but not thick. Finish is a little sweet and oily. Not my favorite, but solid.
