On tap in Ashland, Oregon. Hazy and light orange, with small white head and moderate lacing. Nose of light hops and malts. Light mouthfeel. Flavor of caramel malts and citrus hops, and a light bitter finish. Very refreshing light brew and easy to drink.

Personally, I'd consider this an IPA, it just has all the cards stacked in favor of the title. Nevertheless, this APA pours an orange/amber with thick head and sticky lacing. Very cloudy.
Smells of citrus (grapefruit) and also some tropical fruit notes.
Again, the hops give this more of a kick than your standard APA. There's no resin/oily hoppiness, but I'd put this up against some IPA's as far as i'm concerned.
So it's organic according to the label. Extra points for that I guess. Anyhow, it's great on-tap so if your up in Portland, do visit the brewpub and give this one a try!

RootsÂ’ website lists this ale as 45 IBU. Their house menu tags it at 35 IBU. Regardless, the bulk of the all-Amarillo hops falls squarely in the bittering range creating a beer with a sharp bittering element and a slight citrus tang. The aroma is bitter but restrained. The body is scarlet-rust and boldly unfiltered, with little thought of lather and a few stray threads of lace.
This organic beer is an honest, wholesome session ale that starts with a respectable functionality and concludes with determined satisfaction. It is also known as Turtle Pond Pale Ale with a portion of sales supporting environmental causes.

Like all of Roots' beers, this pale ale is an unfiltered, highly yeasty brew. It was an opaque bronze with a respectable head and a fruity aroma that not only put forth citric flavors (orange, grapefruit) but also peaches and mangoes. The malt is sturdy, with some sweetness, and backs up the hops which are a bit stronger than your usual pale. The flavor's yeasty, to be sure, but not spent or dirty, with a biting crispness from the hops. The body is a bit too full and perhaps some filtration would let the beer's colors shine as well as providing a less pulpy beer which would better suit Roots' lightest beer (with hops).
