Bought a bottle while at the brewery in Salida.

APPEARANCE: The first thing I noticed about this one was the solid head. It was about a half-inch thick, but it was immediately apparent that it was not going anywhere, and it didn't. It sat strong on top of a hazy, pale orange beer for a good three or four minutes before settling down with a nice, white cap. Some nice lacing also developed on the back side.

SMELL: The piney aroma began to waft up from the bottle as soon as I popped it open. The first sniff revealed a delicious piney, hoppy and orange aroma.

TASTE: The Amicas DIPA was not nearly as sweet as I expected based on the aroma. The hoppiness was all there, however, along with bitter, grapefruit and anise flavors. The pine was not nearly as pronounced as it was in the nose, but it became more noticeable as the beer warmed. Very nice.

MOUTHFEEL: Very bubbly with a lot of sparkle. The Amicas DIPA is very dry and sits lightly. Very easy to drink.

OVERALL: This is a solid offering from a solid brewery, I was disappointed that it was not available on tap at the brewery, but I was happy to take a bomber home. I will reach for this one again next time I see it.

22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber with a medium frothy white head that goes to a film that laces the glass.

The aroma is piney, resinous hops with a little melon and grapefruit.

The flavor is a little biscuity caramel malts with a huge resinous pine hop bitterness with a touch of melon. The bitterness is sticky and lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and kind of watery.

Overall, other than the mouthfeel, this is a very good DIPA. It's a bit of a one-dimensional hop bomb but there's good piney/resiny flavor with the bitterness. I'd like to see a little more fruitiness. But this is good!
