500 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. A New Year's Day treat. Bought at the brewery for about $6 CDN. Awesome art featuring a deadly scorpion and American Southwest themes (deserts and cacti).
Appearance - Mildly hazy, pale golden color with peach hues. A finger plus of short lived white head rests on top and fizzles out.
Smell - Agave, oak, lemon and lime, tequila. Wonderful combination of aromas. Agave and lemon are most prominent but then the oak and tequila kick in.
Taste - Tart with lots of lemon and lime up front initially, some agave in behind before some smooth tequila and oak run its course. Generally lots of wheat flavor in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, a bit heavier than many in the style, good spritzy carbonation and a relatively dry finish although probably only average dryness for the style.
Overall - Huge props for a unique brew, not my favorite style for sure, but with the agave and oak notes this turned out great and to me at least a logical extension of a style that often encompasses lemon and or lime. A New Year's Day treat indeed.
