An abomination of a beer that I understand was actually intended to be a marzen, but got fucked up beyond belief, leading the brewery to send it out as an 'intentionally sour' Belgian dubbel. Wrong on so many levels.

The voluminous light tan head looks great in the tulip, or at least it would were it not for the fact that it sits upon a turbid brown liquid reminiscent of slick mud. Some clarity and it would be fine, because the retention and lacing is surprisingly good. The nose is all sour fruit, without any greater complexity. In some respects the taste is refreshing, like a berliner weisse, or a lambic lacking in funk, but this is a dubbel, and dubbels are not supposed to taste like sour fruit. There's really little else there. Its drinkable, but a mess. I'm past caring at this point, but for the record, the body is medium-light and slightly fizzy.

Shame on you nickelbrook. If your beer goes bad just throw it away next time - its an insult to your licensees and drinkers to sell this crap.
