After 1 year aging in Bourbon Barrels previously containing our renowned Kentucky Bastard Imperial Stout, Barrel Stock is a re-awakened version of our Double Head Stock IIPA imparted with notes of oak, vanilla, and subtle bourbon spice. The hop profile has now subdued and rounded out to blend beautifully with rich caramel and Vienna malts that have benefited from the extended maturation. A hybrid style somewhere between a double IPA and a barley wine, this beer is a unique treat for IPA fans and anyone who appreciates the character that oak aging brings to a nice whiskey.

16 ounce can from the brewery in Burlington, Ontario. 8 ounce pour - because 10% (this is the type of beer begging for an 8 ounce can!).
Pours a slightly murky dull reddish amber colour with a half finger of tawny head.
Nose is oaky with notes of bourbon, vanilla, some raisin and caramel; a bit of earthy leafy hops.
Sweet mildly oaky caramel on the palate - vanilla, bourbon, again raisin with that earthy and slightly spicy hop hit at the finish with a soft bitterness.
Medium full mouthfeel - not as full as expected - muted carbonation with a warming somewhat boozy bittersweetness lingering.
