This is a great pale ale. It pours a pretty golden color with a fizzy head. Compared to their usual pale ale release (which I really like, don't get me wrong) this beer is far more balanced. Rather than the overpowering citrus (grapefruit) smells and tastes that I get from the pale ale, this rye pale is much smoother with fruity and flowery hop notes that compliment some citrus hop as well as a good balancing maltiness. It is light in body (perhaps a bit too light) and as refreshing, if not more, than their pale ale. I could drink a number of these on a hot day. It is just a shame that this is a limited release beer, I believe, and will probably be all gone by summer, when a good pint of this would hit the spot after a drive through 100 degree + weather.

This is brewed with 10% Rye malt, Horizon, Challenger, Liberty, Fuggles, and Kent Goldings hops, as well as dry hopped with Chinook. It is brewed with 7 different malts.

The beer is a pretty, lightly hazy, light copper color that is topped by a wispy pale head. The aroma is nice and fruity with lots of sweet citrus notes, I get tangerine, orange, and grapefruit. The taste is a well done mix of citrus fruit, pine, and a subtle complimenting malt sweetness, which really accentuates the citrus hop notes. This has a solid bitterness all throughout as well. The rye is only slightly noticeable in the body, and I have a feeling that this would be a little thin with out it. As it is though, this is a light refreshingly hoppy beer from Nimbus. This beer is definitely quite tasty and is certainly the best hop focused beer I have ever had from Nimbus.

Nimbus has finally proved that it can brew a tasty hop focused beer, let's hope the trend continues.
