"Rasputin" is known as "Cease & Desist" or "Moord & Doodslag" in the USA due to a trademark dispute with North Coast brewing.

Got this one from the De Molen beer shop in Bodegraven
From a bottle into a snifter
EBC: 202
EBU: 46
23* Plato
Bottled on 20 November 2014
Best before 20 November 2039
APPEARANCE: Brown pour yields a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy light tan head with good retention. Dark brown, basically black body with no real carbonation. Head slowly fades to a decent wisp cap and clings to the side of the glass. Half wisp and bubbly ring remain leaving some decent lacing down the glass. A little too light colored for an imperial stout, but better than other batches of Rasputin and its variations. A nice, creamy head on this batch as well.
SMELL: Cherry notes, lemon aromas, some caramel, toffee and touches of oak as well. Smells rather nice.
TASTE: Some light cherry notes and some oak up front. Wood at the swallow with a milder finish of cherries, some tartness, oak, some caramel and a touch of chocolate as well. Not as bold and flavorful as hoped perhaps, but certainly balanced and drinkable.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A little lighter on the palate but creamy enough, goes down fine and finishes slightly dry on the palate. Okay here, and much better than the Bordeaux variant drunk right before.
OVERALL: This is much, much better. Not that the Bordeaux variant was hard to beat. Much smoother and way easier to drink, with a more balanced and less harsh profile overall. Much more enjoyable to drink. That said, this is still not anything overly impressive and doesn’t quite live up to the high standards De Molen has set, but certainly an enjoyable brew.

This is apparently their Rasputin Russia Imperial Stout aged on cherries and Bourbon barrels. I had this at Borefts 2014. I remember a quite unassuming imperial Stout that was remarkably smooth for such a big style. The reason is probably the added cherries that were wonderful and smoothed away the edges.
