Bought at the foreign beer bar of Pig's Ear Beer Festival, early December 2006. Bottle-conditioned, 6.2%abv. BB 19/09/2007, served lightly chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: pours a murky, dark chestnut brown colour with a beige creamy beer head that retains the 1.5cm thick froth for a good two minutes; the carbonation looks very static.
S: the nose is full of yeastiness upfront, backed by an equally rich layer of raw-ish and gristy dark malts, chocolate-coated nuts, a touch of brown sugar and some raisin-like dried berry-fruits; hops stay firmly at the back, with earthy, nutmeg notes and semi-sharp musk-like fragrance. Different but pleasant~~
T: the foretaste is raw-ish yeasty, roast-nutty and brown-sugary... gradually the hops catch up, leaving lots of dried tea-leafy as well as earthy bitterness, and a chewy texture as of gristy malts attached deeply to the tongue. Dryish finish, with a lingering and pleasant aroma of roastiness and nutmeg-like spices~~
M&D: slightly chewy on the mouthfeel, with a moderate level of soothing fizziness to keep it light, mildly effervescent, and super easy-drinking. All in all a quality, medium-bodied ale this is, with a good body of bitter hops in balance with medium-bodied dark malts, lending a dryish-malty and dryish-hoppy touch like a robust/stronger version of English Dark Mild. I haven't tried many bottled Dutch Bocks, but this is one of the more impressive in my book. I believe drinkers of English Bitter and Mild would like this, too.

A brown beer with a fine bubbled head and a lot of carbonation.
Smell is slightly acidic and winey, with a caramel touch behind.
Taste is slightly burned with little bitterness and a touch of acidity. There is a strange yeasty taste, not really fresh, more like there is too much yeast in the bottle which already start to decompose. There is fruit like cherries (together with the sourness). This also tastes like there are some adjuncts in the beer, like oats or rye, which give the beer a oily texture. Also some higher alcohols.
Aftertaste is dry and body is medium.
This does not taste like a typical Dutch bock, it misses the sweetness and caramel and should not be acidic.

BB 22-09-06. Good presentation with nice and longlasting thick head and reddish brown beercolor and opalising haze in it. Nose is strange giving koreander, orange peals that I never had in Bok together with normal caramellic maltiness and a peppery and litle diacethyl yeastarome. Litle soapy also but overal a quiet plesant nose. Taste is dry malty, carramellic and roasty, orange juice and phenolic bitter. Aftertaste has some hopbitterness also but could be more IMO. Strange and unbalanced but overal not bad. As is mouthfeel; edgy and unfamiliar. Certainly something else and well drinkable though very very strange.
Revisited again december 3 2006 BB 19-09-2007: again quiet dissapointing and watery mouthfeel for a bock, looks like this one has orange peals in it as it comes up again.
