Stowaway Bonus Brett Edition

APPEARANCE: Pours a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy, off-white head with great retention. Clear rosewood red in color with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a splotchy wisp and ring, clinging to the sides of the glass. A splotchy wisp remains leaving some nice lacing on the glass as it empties. Good looking.

SMELL: Solid nose of bourbon, oak, caramel and toffee, some vanilla notes, cotton candy and hints of coconut on the nose. Bold. No sign of brett.

TASTE: Bourbon, caramel, red fruits, raspberries and tart cherries, with some oak and light sourness up front. Just a touch of brett at the moment. A bit of booze at the swallow, then a bolder finish of bourbon, oak, red fruit, a touch of tartness, vanilla flavors and some sweet toffee linger on the palate. A touch of alcohol as well.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Light and cream y enough on the palate, goes down fine and finishes rather sticky. A touch of heat lingers.

OVERALL: This was way better than I thought it would be. Part of me thought it would be an infected mess, but the other part of me hopped it would be a lovely brett barleywine, which it was. I guess it makes more sense that it would be the latter, as Weer & Wind is excellent on its own and brett is great when added on purpose, so why not when added by accident? Really nice and well worth checking out if you get the chance. Cheers!
