Another Molen beer that I tried on the GREAT Borefts bierfestival 2009.

A: A hazy darkbrown with a beige head.

S: Roasted malts, grapefruit, mango and some red fruits.

T: Roasted malts, grapefruit, caramel, red fruits, wet wood, whiskey and a salty liquorice like tone. Bitter finish and warming alcohol.

M: Medium body and carbonation.

D: What a great smell. Too bad that there's a damp wood taste, otherwise I would rate it even higher.

This IJsbock is dry hopped with Simcoe hops. This beer was brewed for and introduced during the 1st Borefts bier festival (BBF 2009).

Poured into an original de Molen sniffer. The beer poured a hazy-dark brown color with a long lasting off-white head.

Smell: Grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, roasted malts, red berries

Taste: Sweet red fruits, grapefruit, a bit dusty wood (whiskey?), sweet malts and hints of sweet-salty liquorish. Long lasting bitter hoppy finish. The alcohol is, just like in the Ijsbock with woodchips, very well hidden.

Overall: Nice beer, beautiful smell. Recommendable!
